Medical Pedicures

WHAT ARE MEDICAL PEDICURES?

A Medical Pedicure is a specialized foot care treatment that goes beyond the typical cosmetic pedicure offered at nail salon. A Medical Pedicure, also known as “Medi-Pedi”, is a specialized pedicure that combines elements of both cosmetic and medical foot care. Our pedicures are performed by a licensed nail technician trained and supervised by our Podiatrist.

Our office uses medical grade products, specialized and sterile tools to clean the feet. If our nail technician recognizes “out of normal” nails or foot related concerns, we can schedule an appointment for our patients to consult with the doctor unless they are already in treatment with him.

Medical Pedicures are typically recommended for people with diabetes, cancer or have chronic foot conditions that require a more specialized and cleaner pedicure. Our pedicures are also “dry” and what this means is that we don’t soak your feet but rather use a steaming machine to gently moisturize your feet.

FAQ'S

Dry or waterless pedicures do not involve soaking your feet in water. This helps us avoid any cross contamination and spreading of bacteria, fungus, and viruses as well as reduce the risk of infection. To ensure a sterile treatment, fresh warm steamed towels and fully sterilized equipment are used on our clients/patients.

A dry pedicure, even without the foot soak, can be a luxurious and relaxing experience. With a cleaner reputation and better health benefits, a dry pedi-cure keeps your feet happy and your toenails perfect for longer.

The pedicures are performed by a licensed nail technician that has experience working with people with foot related conditions. Additionally, our nail technician is trained and supervised by our Podiatrist who is a medical foot health expert.

Although it is not required, we encourage clients / patients to consult with the doctor in order to address any foot related concerns and develop a treatment plan.

Unfortunately, insurance does not cover pedicures. Some insurance plans do cover debridement of calluses and nails when performed by a podiatrist. You can contact our office to see if this is a benefit covered by your plan, however, this would be a separate service.

Getting a pedicure in our office can provide several benefits, particularly if you have specific foot conditions or concerns. Here are some advantages of opting for a pedicure with us.

Sterile and hygienic environment: Our office follows strict hygiene and sterilization protocols to maintain a clean and safe environment. Our tools are sanitized in a surgical grade autoclave machine, we sanitize the room after every patient, and we use equipment that is made to reduce the risk of cross contamination.

Medical Grade products: All of our products are carefully selected by our team and are safe and high in quality.

Privacy: Our office has a room designated for our pedicures. This room is used for one service/client at a time and no other person will be in the room beside our nail technician.

Podiatrist supervised nail technician: Our nail technician is supervised and trained by Dr. Rilling. The nail technician works in close collaboration with the doctor to identify any foot related abnormalities that a client/patient might have.

No, although our nail technician can trim ingrowing nails to provide temporary relief, she is unable to perform any minor procedures. In that case, we would recommend scheduling an appointment with Dr. Rilling for a possible permanent removal of the ingrown. If you have insurance, this might be a covered benefit.
